Nils Koppen already working magic at Rangers as Fabrizio Romano shares Fabio Silva update

Nils Koppen does not officially start his role as director of football until 2 January, but he is already seemingly pulling the strings behind the scenes at Rangers.

Fabrizio Romano posted on his personal Twitter page on Thursday (28 December) that Koppen and Philippe Clement played a “crucial” part in the Gers’ agreement to sign Fabio Silva on loan from Wolves.

This is despite the fact that Koppen, whose appointment was confirmed on Rangers’ official website on 1 December, is still not technically involved in transfer activities for another five days or so.

It goes without saying that this is a hugely positive development from the Gers’ perspective, as already the Dutchman is working his magic behind the scenes at Ibrox.

Koppen previously spent five years working in various roles at Dutch heavyweights PSV, so he arrives with a strong CV that makes him well suited for this position.

If Koppen is able to pull off a masterstroke in landing a player of Silva’s quality – albeit the forward’s career has stagnated somewhat at Wolves – then who knows what incoming transfer could be next.

With hugely impressive head coach Clement still unbeaten and new director Koppen showing he has the Midas touch when it comes to transfer activity, this is a great time to be a Rangers supporter.

And with another five weeks until the winter window – which is not officially yet open – still to run, there is every chance this is not the last time Koppen will work his magic.

In other Rangers news, Fabrizio Romano has shared further details on the deal that will see the Gers sign Fabio Silva on loan.
