Derek Clark ‘wouldn’t be surprised’ to see Rangers player leave Ibrox in January transfer window
Derek Clark “would not be surprised” to see at least one player leave Rangers when the transfer window opens next week.
The Gers have been tipped to strengthen their squad in January, with Hearts forward Lawrence Shankland rumoured to be one of their targets.
However, others may first have to depart Ibrox in order to free up further funds on the back of a busy summer that saw a large turnover in players.
Speaking on The Rangers Review podcast [28 December, 25m, 05s], journalist Clark said: “There might be some outgoings as well.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if one or two head for the Ibrox exit door, whether permanently or on loan, but there may be movement in terms of incomings and outgoings.”
Right signing could make massive difference
Philippe Clement has worked wonders with the squad he inherited from Michael Beale, but Rangers cannot afford to rest on their laurels.
Due to results being so good in recent weeks, it may well be that the board think this current group does not need adding to before the summer.
However, having done the hard work by getting right back into the title race, the Gers now need to bring in one new player to help us push on.

If bringing in someone such as Shankland comes at the cost of a first-team player being sold, then so be it.
A player like Ridvan Yilmaz, say, should be able to generate a decent transfer fee, albeit it would leave Rangers very light in that area.
January is a notoriously difficult month to do business, and it will undoubtedly be a lot quieter at Ibrox than it was during the summer.
If one player can be brought in and one offloaded, though, then it may well be the difference between winning the title and finishing in second.
In other Rangers news, Joshua Barrie has shared what he has been told about the Gers’ chances of signing another of their rumoured January targets.
