Manchester City star reacts as Rangers confirm Fabio Silva transfer
Manchester City star Matheus Nunes has congratulated Fabio Silva on his loan move to Rangers after the striker reacted to the deal on Instagram.
The £53million man [ESPN] left Wolves and Silva to join Manchester City in the summer but had some words of encouragement for his former teammate as his move was announced.
Silva has made the switch to Rangers on a loan deal until the end of the season, with Philippe Clement keen on bringing in a new striker to help their title challenge.
Silva took to Instagram [28 December] to confirm the deal, sharing: “New club and new home. It is truly a pleasure for me to play for Rangers and I hope to celebrate many more victories together. Come on Rangers.”
Nunez simply responded to the Instagram post by writing “Vai”, translating to “Go” as words of encouragement like “Go on”, paired with a red heart emoji showing his support for his former Wolves teammate.
Hopes are high
The striker’s Instagram replies were filled with messages of encouragement not just from fans, but from a number of former teammates including Nunes, ex-PSV wonder Xavi Simons, and Wolves players past and present including the likes of Nelson Semedo and Francisco Trincao.
There is plenty of support for Silva from his former teammates, which may speak to how much of a positive influence he can be in the dressing room at Ibrox, clearly leaving a positive impression on plenty he has crossed paths with earlier in his career.
Hopes are high for the Portuguese’s arrival at Ibrox, with Rangers having struggled for a consistent source of goals so far this season with the patchy form of Cyriel Dessers and the injury blows suffered by Danilo and Kemar Roofe.
If he can get off to a flying start in Glasgow, Silva could very quickly become a favourite amongst the fans and the players, and if he can help Rangers beat Celtic to the SPFL title then they will look back on this moment as a key point in their season.
