Sky Sports pundit blasts Cyriel Dessers after Rangers ace ‘got it all wrong’ in ‘wild’ moment v Motherwell

Kenny Miller blasted Cyriel Dessers after the Rangers striker “got it all wrong” with his follow-up to a Ross McCausland shot against Motherwell.

The striker had the opportunity to put the Gers 3-0 up in the first half of their Scottish Premiership meeting at Fir Park on Sunday (24 December).

Philippe Clement’s outfit won the match 2-0, with Kieran Dowell and Todd Cantwell on the scoresheet for the visitors.

“He got it all wrong,” Miller said live on Sky Sports Football (12.35pm, 24 December). “Dessers should really do better on the follow-up. He has a wild swing with his left foot, but makes no contact whatsoever.”

Frustrating

Dessers has had an interesting time in Glasgow since his summer switch to the club, with the striker perhaps failing to hit the heights expected of him.

But he has finally found a bit of form of late, and was in the thick of the action at Fir Park as Rangers picked up another important three points.

But it was largely frustration for the attacker given how he had two goals disallowed, as well as missing the aforementioned chance following a shot from teammate McCausland.

Dessers showed great composure to twice find the back of the net at Fir Park, only for the goals to be ruled out by VAR for offside. He previously showed a real lack of composure against Motherwell, missing one or two good chances in the box.

Clement will, however, be delighted that his striker is at least getting in the positions to score, with some finishing drills perhaps now needed on the training ground.
