Kenny Miller delivers Todd Cantwell verdict as he expects ‘More’ despite goal v Motherwell
Kenny Miller was impressed by Todd Cantwell’s goal in the 2-0 win against Motherwell but expects the Rangers midfielder to register more than he has done.
The 25-year-old doubled the Gers’ lead after Kieran Dowell pounced on a mistake to open the scoring just four minutes into the match.
Cantwell swept the ball home on 16 minutes as Brighton loanee Abdallah Sima chested the ball down to him, but Miller expressed his want to see the midfielder get on the scoresheet more often.

“Right on cue, I just said Todd Cantwell should be getting on the scoresheet more often,” he said live on Sky Sports on Friday (24 December).
“It’s a great finish. He’s done exactly as he should do in that number 10 role. When the ball goes into Dessers and Sima, he should be the first line of support.
“Cantwell is on-site to sweep it into the bottom corner. It’s Todd Cantwell’s eighth goal of the season – he should be getting more.”
Living up to expectations
Cantwell joined Rangers in January 2023 after spending five years at Norwich City, where he made 129 appearances. With just seven goals for the Scottish side since, many are sitting and waiting for the attacking midfield to offer more statistics when going forward.
His assist record is not much better, tallying up nine in all competitions. It has been disappointing, especially after watching how brilliant he was in the Premier League.

Even Tottenham Hotspur were interested in his signature in 2021, with Liverpool, Leicester City, Newcastle United, Leeds United and Roma all joining the race, as per The Sun.
However, he has not been able to live up to the hype since arriving at Ibrox, and some are now voicing their expectations of Cantwell which are not being met.
After the superb first-half display against Motherwell, it will be hoped Cantwell will take confidence heading into the second half of the season and net more goals as Rangers aim for domestic and European success.
