Celtic on brink of ‘civil war’ amid Rangers development at Ibrox
Celtic are on the brink of a “civil war” after Rangers have found themselves clawing their way back into the SPFL title race this season, according to Gary Keown.
Writing on page 83 of the Scottish Mail on Sunday’s print edition on 24 December, the journalist said now that the Green Brigade are back inside Parkhead, there is “huge” potential for fireworks after the Hoops have been faltering on the pitch over the past few weeks.
The Gers can narrow the gap back down to just two points with a victory over Motherwell on Sunday, leaving them with a further game in hand to take top spot and put them in control of the title race.

Something is building
There is definitely tension building at Celtic on the back of their recent results and the fans’ fragmented relationship with the club’s board.
Before their 2-0 victory over bottom-of-the-league Livingston on Saturday (23 December), the Hoops had lost their past two SPFL games and have been dumped out of Europe altogether this season.
There is, meanwhile, momentum building for Rangers as they are now 15 games unbeaten under Philippe Clement and already have a trophy in the bag following the Viaplay Cup final win over Aberdeen on 17 December.

The Gers will be coming into the clash against Motherwell full of confidence and expecting to pick up another three points against the side sitting second bottom in the table.
The Light Blues will be desperate to keep their impressive form up ahead of the all-important showdown against Celtic at Parkhead on 30 December, where more than just bragging rights will be at stake.
In other Rangers news, Kieran Maguire has revealed how an £80million Gers gap could be accelerated by the backing of Saudi Arabia.
