BBC Sport journalist wowed by ‘key’ Player of the Match Todd Cantwell in Rangers win v Motherwell
Todd Cantwell was the Player of the Match as Rangers beat Motherwell, according to BBC Sport journalist Andrew Petrie.
The 25-year-old scored the second goal of the game as the Gers defeated Motherwell 2-0 on Sunday (24 December).
Midfielder Kieran Dowell was also on the scoresheet to help secure all three points for the visitors in their Scottish Premiership clash at Fir Park.

Naming Cantwell as the Player of the Match, Petrie wrote for BBC Sport: “The midfielder was a key part of Rangers lightning fast start that ultimately made this an easy, if not memorable, Christmas Eve win.”
Star man
Cantwell was absolutely the star man at Fir Park, with the former Norwich City ace central to everything good about the visiting team.

He was in the thick of the action right from the very first whistle, with his early goal giving the Gers a comfortable lead after just 16 minutes.
His fine finish came after a superb bit of teamwork from Philippe Clement’s men, with Dowell having scored the opener after just four minutes.
The travelling side definitely had chances to win by a more convincing margin, with their lack of composure in the final third perhaps set to anger Clement.
But at the same time the man in the dugout will be pleased with two more goals and another clean sheet as the Gers closed the gap on fierce rivals Celtic.
The Bhoys are now just two points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, with their rivals having a game in hand.
