Rangers transfer news: Frontrunner emerges in race to sign Celtic target and Wolves striker Fabio Silva
Rangers and Celtic find themselves having a golden opportunity to secure the services of Wolves striker Fabio Silva, amid recent reports.
Portuguese media outlet O Jogo reported on 23 December that the 21-year-old is prepared to leave in January and Gers and Celtic are leading the race while other sides are also keen on securing his services.
The centre-forward has struggled since his £35million move back in 2020 and feels the time has come to get his career back on track.

It’s hard to write off a player who was once likened to Cristiano Ronaldo by Sporting CP legend Manuel Fernandes, who was working at the time as the club’s scouting director.
He said back in 2018, “When Ronaldo was 17, he played as a centre-forward for Sporting’s youth teams. I saw him doing things that I’m now seeing a boy from FC Porto do, Fabio Silva. He will be a hell of a ‘crack.’
“In a short time, he will be an extraordinary striker.”
Despite a challenging stint at Wolves, where he struggled to secure a regular starting position, Silva’s earlier performances at Porto and loan spells at Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven showcased glimpses of his talent.
At just 21, Silva represents a significant investment in the future and Philippe Clement’s managerial expertise and tactical acumen could provide the ideal environment for his development, tapping into the striker’s raw potential and refining his skills.
The Belgian has a track record of improving youngsters and will absolutely love working with the Portuguese.

His versatility as a forward, capable of playing centrally or in supporting roles, aligns with Clement’s tactical preferences and Rangers’ attacking style.
Silva’s experience in various European leagues contributes valuable depth to Rangers’ squad, especially in continental competitions.
Additionally, the competitive environment of the Scottish Premiership could serve as a platform for Silva to regain confidence and further hone his skills.
Given the Old Firm’s intense rivalry, Silva’s potential impact in such high-stakes matches could endear him to Rangers’ fans and they’ll hate it if a player of his calibre ends up joining Celtic.
In other Rangers news, the club may now look to sign an international striker in January amid a £2.3m development this week.
