Fraser Wilson makes Cyriel Dessers prediction at Rangers provided one thing happens
Cyriel Dessers should now be aiming to reach 20 goals for Rangers this season provided he stays fit, according to Daily Record writer Fraser Wilson.
The striker has been much maligned at times this season but his goal in the 2-0 triumph over St Johnstone on Wednesday (20 December) took him to nine goals in all competitions for the season.
The 29-year-old has four goals in his past six games, and five from his past nine. Wilson thinks there is now no reason why he should not be aiming for the fabled 20-goal mark, so long as he stays fit.

“It’s beginning to look like he will (get 20 goals) – so long as he avoids injury and keeps his place in the team,” he wrote for the Daily Record (23 December).
“He’s playing with confidence and showing decent movement in the box as well as a goal a game record recently. Twenty should be the target.”

Still need reinforcement
You have to hold your hands up and say fair play to Dessers, who plenty of pundits – and probably a lot of fans – were suggesting might have been moved on in January despite only arriving in the summer.
His start to the season was not great and he looked low on confidence leading to a pretty poor goals return. But fate has sort of worked in his favour, with Danilo out for around four months and Kemar Roofe unable to stay fit.
He has taken his chances in recent weeks and the shirt should belong to him if he continues to provide the goods. However, Rangers should still be targeting more firepower in the January window, they cannot rely solely on Dessers – especially considering they made the Europa League knockout stages.
There is no reason at all why he should not hit 20 goals this season now and as long as he is performing then he deserves to keep the shirt. But the sheer volume of games in the New Year means Rangers have to add firepower in the window.
