Peterborough United ‘certain’ to sell Rangers-linked ‘wonderkid’ Ronnie Edwards in January, £4.5m-plus fee needed

Peterborough United are “certain” to sell Rangers-linked Ronnie Edwards in the January transfer window, according to The Sun.

The newspaper reported on its website on Thursday (21 December) that the Gers have sent scouts to watch the centre-back.

The Sun added that Peterborough are expecting a fee of at least £4.5million, although they could want more than double that in add-ons.

January battle incoming

Rangers manager Philippe Clement will be wanting to relax somewhat over the Scottish winter break after a whirlwhind time at Ibrox so far.

The boss has had a lot to deal with since taking over from the sacked Michael Beale, and he has done a superb job so far.

As well as closing the gap on fierce rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, the Belgian has lifted the Viaplay Cup and has secured a spot in the knockout stages of the Europa League.

But while he will be satisfied with his efforts so far, a few improvements might still be needed to be made in the January transfer window.

And he could turn to Peterborough centre-back Edwards, who already boasts over 100 appearances for the club despite being only 20.

However, there is unsurprisingly plenty of interest from other clubs, with The Sun reporting that the “wonderkid” is also wanted by West Ham, Everton and Swansea City among other clubs.

A January transfer window battle is certain to take place regarding the England Under-21 international, and the Gers should certainly be wanting to win that one.
