BBC Sport journalist wowed by Player of the Match Kieran Dowell in Rangers 2-0 win v St Johnstone
Kieran Dowell was the Player of the Match as Rangers beat St Johnstone, according to BBC Sport journalist Andy Campbell.
The midfielder played the entire 90 minutes at Ibrox as the Gers won the Scottish Premiership match 2-0 on Wednesday (20 December).
Dowell made his first start under manager Philippe Clement in the match, with Cyriel Dessers and James Tavernier scoring the goals.

Naming Dowell as the Player of the Match, Campbell wrote for BBC Sport (20 December): “The midfielder made a positive impact with vision and some nice touches once allowed to play higher up the pitch.”

Dowell has been very unfortunate since making the summer switch to Ibrox from Norwich City, having been brought to the club by Michael Beale.
It was his first 90 minutes since August, but the midfielder showed no signs of a lack of match fitness as he controlled the play at Ibrox.
Clement, Dowell and indeed Gers fans will be delighted with the display, with the former Canaries man given the chance to impress amid the current busy schedule.
Rangers have been competing in the league, Viaplay Cup and Europa League recently, forcing the man in the dugout to chop and change his starting XI.
But after his display and the injury issues at the Scottish giants, Dowell may quickly be called into further action shortly.
Fellow summer arrival Jose Cifuentes is currently sidelined, as is Ryan Jack, while John Lundstram was forced off at half time against St Johnstone due to injury, with Saints man Diallang Jaiyesimi seeing a red card for a foul on the Gers man.
In other Rangers news, Todd Cantwell sent a four-word message to one of his teammates after their Viaplay Cup final win against Aberdeen.
