Barry Robson shares message to Aberdeen board as Bojan Miovski and Rangers transfer speculation continues

Barry Robson has joked he would have to inform Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack that Bojan Miovski is not allowed to leave in the transfer window amid interest from Rangers.

The former Aberdeen midfielder revealed he hopes the striker will remain at Pittodrie for a good bit longer and that there is more to come after his eight SPFL goals so far this season.

His goalscoring form has earned him links to both Rangers and Celtic, with the Old Firm clubs keen on improving their firepower in a bit to beat one another to the title.

As shared in the print edition of the Scottish Daily Mail [21 December, back page and page 71], Robson joked: “Bojan scored two great goals and probably could have had a few more. We will just have to say to Dave [Cormack] he’s not allowed to go!

“There is a model at this club and we have signed a lot of good players. We’re a good team when we are at it – with Bojan and others who perform well in big European games – and people look at that.

“But we want him to stay as long as he can and hopefully he will be here for a good bit longer. There’s more to come from the lad but he’s doing really well. He’s always enjoyed the way we play. We want to find him (with passes) all the time.”

He could offer plenty to Rangers

Despite the recent upturn in form from Cyriel Dessers at Ibrox, it appears a new striker is still top of Rangers’ wish list for the January transfer window, and they could do a lot worse than bringing Miovski to Glasgow.

The North Macedonian striker has scored three goals in his last three games, including a brace against Livingston to give Aberdeen a 2-1 win, prompting Livingston boss David Martindale to claim he would walk into any side in the league and improve them.

Despite Robson’s insistence that Miovski should be kept at Pittodrie at all costs in January, it may be hard for him to resist the allure of joining an Old Firm club and having the chance to win trophies as Rangers proved when they beat his Aberdeen side in the Viaplay Cup final.

With eight goals from 16 SPFL starts this season, Rangers could certainly do worse than Miovski, and his proven record in Scotland could tempt them into making a January move happen.
