Kenny Miller picks out two Rangers signings in ‘very surprised’ claim live on Sky Sports
Kenny Miller has singled out two positions he believes Philippe Clement will look to strengthen at Rangers in January.
Speaking on Sky Sports News [18 December, 13:47pm], Miller also said he would be “very surprised” if Clement has not already held transfer talks with the Ibrox board.
Clement was only appointed two months ago and has already guided the Gers to Viaplay Cup glory, while they are also through to the last 16 of the Europa League and firmly in the Scottish Premiership title race.

“I’d be very surprised if these talks hadn’t already taken place when Clement was in discussions over the job,” Miller said when asked about Rangers’ likely transfer activity.
“He would have known his team inside out even before coming in, and now he’s had a couple of months to work with them. He’ll know exactly where he needs to strengthen, and I think Rangers will [strengthen].
“January is a tough market to get the right players to fit the way you want to play, but I’d imagine a couple of players will come in – maybe one at the top end of the pitch, like a striker or a winger, and I think yesterday and Thursday highlighted that they’re light in midfield.
“Going further, Clement will want a specialised player to control the game.”
Back him
It is generally considered that a new holding midfielder is required given the Gers are down to their bare bones right now due to injuries and suspensions.
Even with everyone back, Clement may well want to bring in his own guy in that area of the field.

A wide player will also no doubt be on the Belgian’s list of targets, and even a striker now that Danilo is ruled out of action.
Given how well he has worked with the group of players he inherited from Michael Beale, no single transfer is imperative as such.
However, it is important the Gers board back Clement after his achievements so far, rather than punishing him in a way for doing so well with those available.
With the window set to open in a couple of weeks’ time, let’s just hope initial plans are already in place.
