Rangers defender Borna Barisic faced an injury scare that would’ve seen him spend at least three weeks on the sidelines, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that muscle strains have the potential to be notorious but that was not the case with the Croatia international.

Philippe Clement explained on 6 December that he did not make the matchday squad due to a muscle problem but was then back in action for the first team shortly after.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

If it was worse than just a mild strain, he was likely looking at over three weeks out.

So him returning to action right after for Rangers is very good news overall.

These can be very notorious at times and can lead to further complications but that is certainly not what happened with Barisic.

Clement will have been delighted to not miss the services of his first-choice left-back for too long.

Ahead of the winter break, the Belgian will have wanted as many first-team players as possible and the 31-year-old has played an active part in recent weeks.

This season, he’s made 11 SPFL appearances and played on five occasions in the Europa League as well.

In other Rangers news, the club may now look to sign an international striker in January amid a £2.3m development this week.
