Kenny Miller makes ‘crazy’ claim live on Sky Sports after events at Rangers and Celtic last week

Kenny Miller says Rangers fans would have thought he was “crazy” had he told them two months ago they could end 2023 top of the Scottish Premiership.

The Gers have bridged the gap on leaders Celtic to five points with a couple of games in hand to play, while the two sides are set to face off at Celtic Park on 30 December.

If Philippe Clement’s side win each of their remaining four games this month, they will overtake Celtic at the summit in a development nobody thought possible even a few weeks ago.

Rangers

Speaking about the upcoming Old Firm clash on Sky Sports News [18 December, 13:47pm], Miller said: “Rangers could go top of the league in that game.

“If you’d have offered Rangers fans that two months ago, they’d have thought you were crazy with the way their side was playing at the time.

“Clement has created a togetherness and a belief in the camp. When the players cross the white line they deliver what the manager wants.”

Target the win

Rangers have taken 22 points from a possible 24 since Clement succeeded Michael Beale, and 25 from a possible 27 when factoring in Steven Davis’ game in caretaker charge.

Over the same nine-match period, Celtic have drawn twice and lost twice, most recently losing 2-0 at home to Hearts on Saturday (16 December).

In all this, it must be accepted that Rangers will drop points between now and the end of the season. Supporters can therefore not get too ahead of themselves.

Still, there is no reason why the Gers cannot outlast Celtic if they drag themselves top of the pile over the next couple of weeks.

On current form, the Light Blues have to travel to Celtic with the aim of collecting all three points and exacting revenge for the reverse fixture.

All this is down to Clement and the superb work he has done in such a short space of time. Much more of this, and a quadruple should not be ruled out just yet!

In other Rangers news, Giovanni van Bronckhorst has spoken out following the Gers’ Viaplay Cup win over Aberdeen.
