Keith Jackson shares Rangers message as all hell breaks loose at Celtic

Keith Jackson believes that Rangers lifting the ViaPlay Cup against Aberdeen could be a “seismic” shift in momentum in Glasgow.

The Daily Record journalist insisted that James Tavernier scoring the winner came nearly 24 hours after all hell was breaking loose at Celtic and Parkhead.

Hearts beating Celtic means that the Bears are now only five points behind with two games in hand and an Old Firm around the corner.

Writing in his latest column for the Daily Record, Jackson insisted that everything happening in blue is getting harder to ignore across the city.

“All of which might have been easier for the other side of Glasgow’s divide to ignore had it not been happening right here, on the very doorstep that they seem so determined to make a mess of,” he wrote.

“Seriously, what happened at Hampden yesterday – as James Tavernier’s second-half winner settled the Viaplay Cup Final – certainly felt like a rather seismic shift in momentum, coming as it did, 24 hours after all hell was breaking loose again at Parkhead.

“A second league defeat on the bounce means Brendan Rodgers is now firmly in Clement’s sights. And the Belgian now has the chance to take Rangers all the way to the top of the table before he dips into the January sales.”

Wonderful.

This weekend could not have gone any better.

As the mighty Rangers were lifting silverware again, it looked as though everything had imploded at Parkhead with Celtic crumbling on and off the pitch.

Tavernier took his goal magnificently at Hampden, while Celtic couldn’t even string a few passes together without the fans crying from the stands.

It is critical now that Rangers take this success from Europe and this final into the league, with plenty of games over Christmas ahead of the January window.

Win every game and Philippe Clement could go into the transfer market with a gap between his side and Celtic, something that looked simply impossible so soon after he was appointed.

That shows just how much credit has to go to the Belgian for getting this success with the same players that struggled under Michael Beale.

What a weekend.

In other Rangers news, a 3/10 flop was awful while an 8/10 star shone in the final.
