David De Gea sends two-word message to Jack Butland after Rangers win v Aberdeen

Former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has sent a two-word message to Rangers star Jack Butland.

It comes after the Gers number one kept a clean sheet as they defeated Aberdeen in the Viaplay Cup final at Hampden Park.

Rangers captain scored the only goal of the match to help Philippe Clement to his first trophy at the club on Sunday (17 December).

Taking to social media to celebrate the club’s 28th League Cup trophy, Butland posted on Instagram: “What a club, here’s 28.”

Among those replying to the Gers goalkeeper was former Manchester United number one De Gea, who wrote: “Big dog.”

Not all of Michael Beale’s summer signings at Ibrox have hit the ground running as the manager and fans expected. But Butland certainly has, with the goalkeeper expertly stepping in for Allan McGregor following his retirement from the game.

The former England ace wasn’t exactly kept too busy against the Dons, but he still had to remain concentrated for the entire 90 minutes in order to keep a clean sheet and secure a hard-fought win.

De Gea certainly knows just how talented Butland is, with the duo spending plenty of time together at Manchester United.

The latter didn’t actually represent the Red Devils during his spell there, but he would have worked with the former every day at the training ground.

And it is great to see the Manchester United legend continuing to check in on his former teammate, with Butland really impressing at Ibrox so far following his summer move.
