Alan Hutton makes Rangers prediction live on air after Viaplay Cup win v Aberdeen
There are “much more positive times” ahead for Rangers, according to former Gers and Scotland defender Alan Hutton.
The prediction was made after the Glasgow outfit lifted the Viaplay Cup after beating Aberdeen 1-0 on Sunday (17 December).
Right-back and captain James Tavernier scored the only goal of the match at Hampden Park to secure the narrow victory.

“This means everything,” Hutton said on Viaplay, as transcribed by BBC Sport. “You just trust in the process, you trust this manager.
“That’s what he’s come here to do, bring back the steeliness of this side. Look at the league, look at this… Much more positive times for Rangers are ahead.”

More to come?
Rangers manager Philippe Clement is really enjoying himself at his new club, with the boss producing some superb results in all competitions.
This week was undoubtedly his biggest test yet with the Ibrox outfit, having come face to face with Aberdeen just three days after going to Spain to take on Real Betis in the Europa League.
But it is a test that the Belgian has passed with flying colours, having defeated the La Liga club 3-2 on Thursday (14 December) to top the group and secure a spot in the next round.
There would have been a big reason to celebrate after that hard-fought and dramatic win, but Clement needed to keep his players firmly in check ahead of the big one at Hampden.
And that is exactly what happened, with the Gers producing a professional display at both ends of the pitch to get their hands on the Viaplay Cup.
