Official Rangers partner reacts to confirmed Philippe Clement update on Scott Wright, Todd Cantwell, Jose Cifuentes ahead of Aberdeen final

Scott Wright will be fit for Rangers in the Viaplay Cup final against Aberdeen after recovering from injury, Philippe Clement has confirmed.

The attacker has been missing since the start of November as part of the ever-growing injury crisis at Ibrox but is available in time to continue his scoring record at Hampden Park, to the delight of official club partner Heart & Hand.

Injuries continue to proliferate all the same as Jose Cifuentes, suspended for the final anyway, is confirmed to be out for an unknown period after going off hurt in the 3-2 win at Real Betis, but Todd Cantwell, who missed the European win for personal reasons, has trained and could play.

Heart & Hand simply wrote in reaction to the update on 16 December: “Hampden Scott!”

Finally some good news

Cantwell’s availability would be a boost but appears to be still in the balance, while the news on Cifuentes adds to the fitness farce at Rangers but doesn’t change the situation on the day, with the crucial chance to lift a trophy.

Wright being back just in time is however very positive news, as anyone providing another option to Clement in this rapidly depleting squad is a bonus right now.

But the 26-year-old in particular coming back into the frame for a big game at the national stadium will have fans eyeing another goal in a developing sequence.

Wright scored in the semi-final against Hearts on 5 November for what is so far his only strike of the campaign, having also found the net at Hampden against the same opponents the last time Rangers won some silverware in the 2022 Scottish Cup final.

Despite only scoring nine goals in his entire time at Ibrox he has become somewhat of a lucky charm in crucial cup games at the stadium so his timing could hardly be better here.

Clement needs this League Cup win more than he did the excellent qualification against the odds in the Europa League, and it appears he could have a secret weapon available to help him in a rare piece of positive squad news of late.

In other Rangers news, a player in Clement’s first team is now being eyed up as a key transfer candidate ahead of the January window.
