Rangers: Derek Ferguson hits out at Michael Beale for ‘shocking’ treatment of Fashion Sakala
Derek Ferguson has slammed Michael Beale for his treatment of former Rangers ace Fashion Sakala when the Zambian left Ibrox in the summer transfer window.
Ferguson shared his view that he would’ve expected Beale to treat the players with more respect and hit out at the “trail of destruction” he left behind after being sacked at Ibrox.
This comes after an interview with the Rangers Review [13 December] in which Sakala detailed a lack of respect from his former boss when he was sold.

Speaking on the Own Goal podcast [14 December], Ferguson shared: “There was an interview that came out the other day about Fashion Sakala, and how it ended for him under Michael Beale. It was, by the way, shocking.
“Just the way he wasn’t told ‘Don’t come to training’ or ‘Don’t turn up’, he just said ‘We want rid of you now.’ That’s old-fashioned, that’s the way it used to happen in my day.
“Treat people with a wee bit more respect, he was somebody that gave everything. Wasn’t the best player in the world, but he always had a smile on his face, gave Rangers everything, and for him to be treated like that…
“Look at the trail of destruction that Michael Beale has left behind. Sometimes you wonder about that relationship he had with the board members.”
Trail of destruction sums it up
As Ferguson said – Beale left a trail of destruction behind him when he left Ibrox. Results began to drop which ultimately saw him removed from his role, but as time goes by it is becoming more and more clear why he needed to be let go.
Aside from the stark drop in results and performances, his off-pitch antics will now be called into question, and from a boss who has had players speak so highly of him before, this type of treatment of his players at Rangers is simply not good enough.

This latest shocking news adds yet another dampener to what was an awful transfer window in Glasgow. Several signings have flopped and failed to live up to expectations, while others have hardly even featured, and those that left seem to have done so on a sour note.
It is not the way Rangers Football Club should be being represented by those at its head, and Beale’s sacking has been yet again proven the right call – we can only hope Clement has a bit more respect for his players and the club.
