David Edgar wowed as Rangers player turns into Lionel Messi v Real Betis
David Edgar was left stunned by Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers in the Europa League clash with Real Betis on Thursday 14 December in a huge 3-2 win.
The Nigerian powerhouse has taken his fair amount of stick since arriving at Ibrox but turned two defenders with ease before slotting through the goalkeepers’ legs.
The official club partner, using the Heart & Hand Podcast account, was wowed by the piece of skill as Philippe Clement was justified in his selection.
Edgar wrote on X: “Dessers has just turned into Messi.”

Response.
This is exactly what Rangers fans have been wanting to see from the number nine, who needs to use any criticism as motivation to succeed in the final third.
Dessers has not been getting his head down and running at the opposing defence, and this is what he can do when he does exactly that, with the finish to match.
Naming Messi is, of course, an overreaction, but hopefully, this is the start of the striker turning his short Ibrox career around already after a very slow start.
With some huge games ahead and very little competition, Dessers will likely be leading the line against Aberdeen in the ViaPlay Cup final and the Old Firm with Celtic.
Goals in those two games to follow up this one would certainly take him away from this early flop mentality that appears to have been put on his name.
That is one to watch.
