Rangers must consider Alfredo Morelos swoop in January transfer window after Danilo injury news
The January window looks set to be a busy one for Rangers, particularly on the back of the news that Danilo could be out for up to fourth months.
According to The Scottish Sun [12 December], the forward is in a race against time to be fit again this term after damaging his medial ligaments.
If a player who knows how to find the net was not already on Philippe Clement’s list of January transfer targets, they surely will be now.

And as luck would have it, on the same day news of Danilo’s likely lengthy lay-off emerged, a former Gers goalscorer officially became a free agent again.
As reported by Glasgow Times [13 December], Santos have exercised the release clause in the contract Alfredo Morelos only recently signed.
Santos suffered relegation for the first time in their 100-plus-year history last week and Morelos now finds himself without a club.
This comes amid recent murmurings that Morelos could potentially be on Rangers’ radar, just six months after departing Ibrox.
It would be easy to dismiss those suggestions, and it is fair to say the Gers would rather not go back down that path if given the choice.
Philippe Clement has built a good team chemistry and is working wonders with the players he has available to him.
However, all that said, Rangers do need another striker for the second half of the season, and Morelos needs to find a club.

It would be a marriage of convenience in every sense, and only a temporary solution to the predicament Rangers and Morelos find themselves in.
Ultimately, Rangers would have themselves a striker who has proven pedigree at this level and is ready to play from 1 January.
Morelos, for his part, would be back in familiar surroundings for the next six months and can then find another home in the summer.
In many ways it is far too obvious a link to make, but it may just be a transfer that suits every party.
In other Rangers news, the Gers have been given 30 days to pay a fine following an announcement made by the SFA on Tuesday (12 December).
