Councillor hits out at Rangers as new petition now formally launched

Dan Hutchison has hit out at Rangers over plans to instal new LED screens at Edmiston House outside of Ibrox after plans were approved.

The Councillor for Govan has backed the launch of a petition with local residents also involved over concerns regarding the new development.

Glasgow City Council did grant permission for the screens last year, with still images permitted to be shown on the screens until an hour before kick-off on matchdays.

On top of the plans, there was also a blackout enforced meaning that images cannot be displayed between 12am and 6am every single day.

Hutchison wrote on X: “Local petition live to stop the installation of LED screens which will shine straight into the windows of the flats across the road and into Ibrox Primary School.

“Please sign and share.”

Surely not.

With plans already approved and the work will most likely be ready to go, but quick signatures on this petition could put an initial halt to that at Ibrox.

It would take a lot for the council to overrule their initial decision, but many are pushing for that to happen.

Rangers have put a lot of work into Edmiston House and this would see them complete their work to make the matchday experience at Ibrox the best in Scotland.

This could be the start of a battle, but more support would be needed before it becomes anything more serious.

Philippe Clement has transformed the fortunes of the club on the pitch domestically, cutting the gap to Celtic to the point where we could be top after the next Old Firm.

No one would have expected that a couple of months ago at this stage, and as things get better on the pitch, the dream continues off it to make it equally as good.

Let’s hope nothing happens to put a spanner in the works.
