Doctor issues verdict on injury scare for Rangers attacker Ross McCausland

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Rangers...

Rangers attacker Ross McCausland does not face any immediate risk of missing the Europa League clash against Real Betis, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that despite him facing an injury scare back in November, during the international break, his recent games have proven that he’s brushed off the knock.

Having signed a new deal at Ibrox, he also made his senior debut for Northern Ireland during the international break.

He has now become a go to option for Philippe Clement on the right wing.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

“I always urge caution when a player is first called up to first-team football because there’s a significant jump in intensity.

“That being said, the amount of risk really depends on the type of issues he’s dealing with.

“If it’s more of a knock than there’s likely less risk but if it’s potential overload, then have to be cautious with him.

“It’s certainly something the medical team will be monitoring on a daily basis.

“He has played games after that and has looked fine so he should be good for the upcoming matches unless there’s a fresh setback.

Fans certainly will be delighted at just how quickly he’s progressed to become a first team player.

While he may not be starting most games, he’s shown that he can be a game changer coming off the bench too.

Whether or not he starts against Betis on Thursday, remains to be seen, but he’s undoubtedly shown he is a better option than Rabbi Matondo.

In other Rangers news, the club may now rekindle the transfer interest in a ‘Dynamic’ central midfielder amid a recent behind-the-scenes coup.
