Ally McCoist in hysterics live on talkSPORT at ‘ridiculous’ Celtic development as Rangers close gap at SPFL summit

Rangers great Ally McCoist was in hysterics live on talkSPORT at something “ridiculous” he saw as Celtic were beaten by Kilmarnock.

Celtic fell to a 2-1 loss at Rugby Park on Sunday (10 December) as Rangers closed the gap at the top to five points with a game in hand.

Brendan Rodgers’ side pushed for a late leveller, but they could not find one despite a large amount of time being added on in East Ayrshire.

Speaking on talkSPORT breakfast [11 December 06:25], a laughing McCoist said: “We’ve had a text from a Rangers fan asking if the Celtic v Killie game has finished yet.

“There were about 11 minutes added time. Some of the kids had to leave early because they had school in the morning. It was ridiculous.”

Keep it up

It seemed the officials gave Celtic all the help they could want in finding an equaliser against Kilmarnock, but it was not forthcoming.

Eight minutes were added on, rather than 11, as the current pacesetters fell to a damaging defeat.

The loss at Rugby Park could have huge ramifications at the summit, as the Gers’ title hopes are now technically in their own hands.

Philippe Clement has helped gradually close the gap at the top and the pressure is now very much on the Hoops.

It sets up an even more intriguing Old Firm showdown at the end of this month, which could be defining in the title race.

For now, the Gers must just ensure they win their remaining three league fixtures prior to that trip to Celtic Park.

Manage that, and it may be a very special conclusion to the year for Clement and his players.

In other Rangers news, Michael Stewart has made a “concern” admission as he provided his take on the title race.
