Sportsound pundit swears live on BBC Scotland after Rangers incident v Dundee

Kenny Miller accidentally swore live on BBC Scotland after midfielder Jose Cifuentes was sent off for Rangers against Dundee on Saturday (9 December).

Speaking on co-commentary on Sportsound (via the Scottish Sun), the pundit clearly showed his surprise at referee Kevin Clancy’s decision to hand the 24-year-old Ecuadorian a straight red card for a foul on Amadou Bakayoko.

Despite being down to 10 men for the entire second half, the Gers managed to come away with a 3-1 victory at Ibrox to ensure they remain in the SPFL title race.

Accidental

It was a little bit harsh for Cifuentes to see red following the challenge on Bakayoko as it was completely accidental and there was no malice whatsoever.

While the midfielder does certainly seem to catch the Dundee forward, he is clearly just dangling a leg out to try and get the ball.

After consulting VAR on the situation, the referee was advised to head over to the monitor and change his decision to a red card.

The officials must have felt it was a clear stamp by the Ecuadorian, but it looks an awful lot worse – as any foul does – when the footage is slowed down and scrutinised in depth.

It’s unclear whether or not the Gers will attempt to appeal the decision as it means he will now be out of the Viaplay Cup final against Aberdeen on 17 December.

In other Rangers news, Clement has made an exit decision on one player ahead of the January transfer window.
