Rangers: Danilo breaks silence on knee injury as footage emerges

Danilo has broken his silence after being told he faces surgery on a knee injury picked up while playing for Rangers against Hearts.

The Brazilian has been hampered with injury issues since joining after suffering a fractured cheekbone earlier in the season, and now faces a spell on the sidelines with a knee problem.

And the striker spoke to the fans on his personal Twitter account (8 December) to confirm the news which was described by official club partners as “Absolutely grim“, and also shared footage of the incident that led to the injury.

“Out of necessity not able to do what I love the most for a period of time,” he wrote.

“I will support the team from a distance for the upcoming games. For now I need to focus to heal my knee and getting back as soon as possible.

“Thank you all for the concern.”

Blow

The problems that Rangers have had in attack this season have been well documented, and it’s always been quite clear that Danilo has been our best option for now.

Not only is he the biggest goal threat out of the current crop, he’s also the most active and the best presser too which has made him a great fit for the squad and the manager’s plans.

Rangers

His injury is a big blow because it means the manager will now be forced to go back to the underperforming Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers up front despite the fact it’s clear he’s not their biggest fan, or Kemar Roofe until his body inevitably breaks down again.

It’s worse because from the footage it wasn’t a bad tackle that caused the injury and it’s more innocuous, which raises the concerns about the injuries in this squad again.

Hopefully we will be back sooner rather than later and we can get him firing us to the title.
