Rangers injury news as mystery emerges in Tom Lawrence update at Ibrox

“Mysterious” circumstances are said to surround the latest injury picked up by Rangers star Tom Lawrence, according to the Scottish Daily Mail.

The newspaper has reported in its print edition [7 December, pg 82] that the Welshman can’t buy a break at Ibrox after the 1-0 win against Hearts.

Lawrence was substituted with an injury, and replaced by summer signing Jose Cifuentes, but nobody was sure what the injury and it is still unclear.

“Unsettled by the latest injury to midfielder Tom Lawrence in mysterious circumstance after 16 minutes, Rangers slowly found their feet,” they wrote.

“Beset by injuries, the Welsh midfielder can’t buy a break…”

A career stalled by injury

Injuries have been a common theme throughout Lawrence’s career, whether at club level or for his country.

Since joining the Gers on a free transfer last summer, the 29-year-old has only made 20 appearances, missing 49 matches through an Achilles tendon issue. [Transfermarkt]

His torrid time with time out of action makes his huge number of clubs all the more understanding. Derby County has been the only club Lawrence made over 50 appearances for, becoming captain during his time in the Midlands.

Rangers

If Lawrence is able to stay fit, he can be one of the most important players on the pitch under Philippe Clement.

His dribbling ability, range of passing, leadership skills, and even an eye for goal has helped him transition from an out-and-out winger to an adaptable midfielder.

However, trust in the experienced Welshman may have faded. Not the trust in his abilities to perform, but rather trust in him not to get injured again.
