Kris Boyd gives prompt response to Chris Sutton in Rangers transfer debate live on Sky Sports
Kris Boyd joked “we said we were going to behave” to Chris Sutton as the pair discussed a Rangers transfer topic ahead of the game with Hearts.
Former Rangers striker Boyd and ex-Celtic favourite Sutton were in the Sky Sports studio ahead of Wednesday’s (6 December) televised Scottish Premiership clash at Tynecastle.
Prior to kick-off, Boyd was asked if he believes Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland would be a good fit in this Rangers side under Philippe Clement.

As Boyd was explaining why he was “surprised” the Gers did not previously move for Shankland, Sutton interjected [6 December, 19:40]: “Is he better than what Rangers have got?”
Boyd replied: “I’m coming to that. We said we were going to behave tonight.
“To answer your question, I would have signed Lawrence Shankland. Is he better than what’s there? Yes.”
One for January?
Prominent pundits Boyd and Sutton have had plenty of disagreements down the years, most recently last weekend when discussing Celtic’s transfer plans.
On this occasion, the topic at the centre of discussion was whether Shankland would be a good choice to lead Rangers’ line.
As Boyd did eventually go on to say after being interrupted by Sutton a couple of times, the Hearts ace would indeed be a good fit for the Light Blues.

Prior to this latest tussle between the sides – the third since Clement took over – Shankland had scored six goals in 14 league games this term.
That is hardly the most eye-catching of returns but it must be considered that the Gers’ current strike options, Cyriel Dessers and Danilo, have only scored four goals each.
If funds are freed up, it may well be one that the Gers board re-explore in the January transfer window.
In other Rangers news, a Sky Sports reporter has shared details on a moment that appeared to “animate” Clement during the AGM.
