Keith Jackson predicts result of Hearts clash v Rangers

Daily Record journalist Keith Jackson has made his prediction ahead of the big SPFL clash between Rangers and Hearts on Wednesday night.

The Gers head to Tynecastle after their 2-0 win over St Mirren at the weekend, while Hearts have won their last four in a row heading into this game.

And when asked to predict the result of the game, the Daily Record journalists (6 December) were unanimous in predicting an away win for Philippe Clement’s side but Jackson suggested that the Belgian “can’t afford to lose” the game.

Rangers

The manager of the month curse will strike Stevie Naismith tonight,” he wrote.

“Hearts may have improved in recent weeks but this is a game Philippe Clement can’t afford to lose. He won’t. Hearts 0-2 Rangers.”

Opportunity

Heading into the game at Tynecastle Rangers find themselves eight points behind Celtic, having played one less game in the league.

A trip to Hearts is often seen as one of the more difficult games of the season for teams, but Clement has already picked up wins against them this season and will be confident of doing that again.

Rangers

With Celtic hardly in the best form themselves this could be yet another opportunity for the team to close the gap at the top of the table, and with an Old Firm derby just around the corner later this month we could end the year right back in the mix.

The squad is getting stronger in terms of our injury issues recently too, and if the manager can figure out his best team and get them to start turning in some consistent performances there is no reason we can’t catch them.

That has to start with another big performance and result against Hearts, or the season and title race could well be over with before we even reach 2024.
