Craig Gordon set to return to Hearts squad v Rangers after long-term injury
Craig Gordon is set to return to the Hearts matchday squad after his potentially career-ending injury when they face Rangers tonight, according to the Glasgow Times.
Writing on their website (6 December), the news outlet report that the goalkeeper has been in first-team training for a month and has proven his fitness levels to management now.
Gordon suffered a double leg break last year and has missed almost 12 months of action, but could now be recalled for the clash with Philippe Clement’s side tonight at Tynecastle.

“Craig Gordon is set for a return to Hearts’ matchday squad for their game against Rangers tonight,” they wrote.
“The Scotland international could return to the team after nearly a year out recovering from a double leg break.
The brutal injury looked as if it had the potential to be a career-ending one for Gordon, but the 40-year-old has fought back to fitness.”
Good or bad?
Rangers fans could look at this one of two ways, but either way it shouldn’t really make a difference to expectations ahead of the game.
hearts have been good this season and in our fixtures against them so far it’s been tough, despite the fact their man between the sticks has ultimately been their number two.

But Gordon’s return may be a positive for them as they get their main man back for a huge game, but Rangers should be looking at it as they have someone in goal who hasn’t played in a year and will no doubt have nerves.
If he’s picked to start then the team must pepper him with shots early to test him and also to start fast. He won’t be at his best even if he is fully fit because match-rust is a real thing.
It’s great that he has recovered from such a serious injury, but the Gers have a job to do tonight and sentiment can’t be allowed to get in the way of picking up all three points.
