John Bennett urges Rangers fans not to worry after summer transfer spend
Rangers chairman John Bennett has urged fans not to worry about the amount of money spent on transfers in the summer and reassured them it would have no impact on spending under Philippe Clement.
Bennett insisted the spending would not cause Rangers problems like the ones they faced ten years ago, claiming any concerns over that can be cast aside as those days are now over.
He went on to confirm that the summer transfer spending would have no impact on where they want to take the club or the backing they will give Clement in the market.

Speaking at the Rangers AGM [per The Scottish Sun, 5 December, 11:30], Bennett reassured fans: “It will not cause us any problems like we suffered ten years ago. That’s over. I wouldn’t worry about our summer spend and what Philippe wants to do.
“I want our fans to know it’s a process. It’s not about backing an individual anymore. Please rest assured the summer spend will have no bearing on where we want to take this club.”
Concerns can be cast aside
With this reassurance from Bennett, any concerns held over the possibility of financial issues at the club given their heavy backing of Michael Beale in the summer transfer window can be put aside, with the focus now on backing Clement.
The January transfer window is rapidly approaching, leading to speculation on the money Rangers will need to spend to ensure they remain competitive across all competitions this season, and they have been reassured that spending can and will happen.

It won’t be long until these claims are put to the test in January after Clement called for a restoration of balance in his squad as he feels he is lacking options and strength in depth in certain areas of the team.
When Bennett speaks about where they want to take the club, Rangers will be looking at consistent success and competing for silverware both domestically and in Europe – something that will take plenty of support, backing, and a clear path from those at the top.
In other Rangers news, Clement has shared a new injury setback.
