Chris Jack issues Rangers financial stance amid Ibrox renovation news

Chris Jack has revealed multi-million Rangers plan to invest in the renovation of Ibrox which would result in increasing the capacity.

The two platforms that will be installed for wheelchair access will result in lost revenues but the club are confident of them being offset by the increase of the overall capacity.

James Bisgrove has even revealed ambitious plans for 70,000 seats inside Ibrox.

Jack wrote in the Rangers Review on 4 December: “A feasibility study to assess a potential safe standing area within the stadium had been undertaken following sign-off on the work to install two platforms for wheelchair access.

“It is believed the overhaul is part of a single-digit multi-million-pound investment and any downturn in terms of revenue as a result of lost seats will be offset by the increase in the overall capacity to around 51,500 as the number of wheelchair-accessible spaces rises to 270.

“But the prospect of further expansion to Ibrox has long been spoken about amongst supporters. At a fan forum event last month, Bisgrove revealed that hugely ambitious plans for a 70,000-capacity stadium had been discussed.”

Good news

The redevelopment initiatives at Ibrox, including improved disabled facilities, a potential safe standing area and ambitious plans for increased capacity, bring positive financial prospects for the club.

The addition of wheelchair-accessible spaces not only addresses a crucial aspect of fan inclusivity but also reflects a commitment to modernising the stadium infrastructure.

This enhancement aligns with contemporary standards, potentially attracting more supporters and increasing matchday revenue.

Moreover, the planned expansion, featuring proposals for filling corners, lowering the pitch and adding rows of seats, signifies a proactive approach to maximising stadium revenue.

Increasing the overall capacity to approximately 51,500 not only accommodates more fans but also provides a financial cushion to offset any temporary loss of revenue during the construction phase.

Ambitious discussions of a potential 70,000-capacity stadium and the addition of thousands of seats further underscore the club’s vision for sustained growth and financial prosperity and it remains to be seen if the club can actually match those promises.

In other Rangers news, the club may now rekindle the transfer interest in a ‘Dynamic’ central midfielder amid a recent behind-the-scenes coup.
