Celtic stand their ground as Rangers bosses push in ongoing dispute

Celtic and Rangers bosses continue to argue about the ongoing ticket allocation row, with the Hoops refusing to budge despite Ibrox chiefs pushing for an allocation, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper reported via their website [5 December] that Rangers could take their case to the SPFL as both clubs continue to stand their ground over the ongoing dispute.

Chiefs at Parkhead turned down the offer of an allocation in the reverse fixture earlier this season, and are continuing to refuse Rangers’ advances, while Ibrox officials have insisted there is no chance of a return to larger allocations.

It’s the fans that suffer

Once again amid the ongoing debate between the football clubs, with neither stepping back, causing an impasse in negotiations, it is the fans who will continue to suffer.

Having both sets of fans attending the biggest games of the season always makes them better. As hostile as things are, the rival fanbases singing against each other, and scenes of celebration are always an addition to a game that needs no invitation to fly off the handle.

Ultimately, it is a petty dispute between the two clubs trying to one-up each other, and it’s the fans who miss out and suffer as a result. Celtic refusing Rangers’ offer of an allocation while Rangers won’t meet their demands just furthers the frustration and bickering going on.

Rangers

Celtic insist that they will negotiate ticket allocations if Rangers meet their demands surrounding the health and safety of away fans, while Rangers refuse to budge over their limited allocation of tickets, with neither looking likely to change their stance.

In other Rangers news, the board are set to face another grilling today.
