Frightening £20m+ question must top bill at Rangers AGM as Keown speaks out
Gary Keown has insisted that chief among questions at the upcoming Rangers AGM must be why the board handed Michael Beale over £20million to spend in the summer.
Writing for the Scottish Mail on Sunday [3 December, pg 105], the journalist admitted that the now-sacked Beale was frighteningly underqualified for the role at Ibrox.
The summer spend left Rangers with the highest wage bill in the country, although things haven’t reflected that way on the pitch with another tough start and new manager.

“However, that’s not to say there aren’t plenty of questions needing asked at Edmiston House on Tuesday,” he wrote.
“Chief among them is why they thought sticking with the frighteningly underqualified Michael Beale and giving him £21million to spend in the summer was a good idea, leaving Rangers with the biggest wage bill in the country.”

Mess.
That is the perfect way to describe the summer and the start of the season, and it is down to Philippe Clement to turn it around, whether it was his fault or not.
It wasn’t his fault, of course, but questions will be asked of him too if he cannot come in and do the job that many are demanding on a daily basis.
With a high wage bill and summer spend with little success, questions also arise over the ability to create funds for the Belgian in January, and they are desperately needed.
There aren’t likely to be too many happy faces at the upcoming AGM, and it is a same-old story at this stage, with the past few seasons all looking very similar, and not in a good way, at least domestically.
John Bennett and James Bisgrove will be facing the heat since taking over from Douglas Park and his team, so it will be interesting to see how that plays out.
For sure, all eyes will be on Edmiston House.
In other Rangers news, Ally McCoist was blown away by one Gers player who “looked the part” against Aris Limassol.
