BBC Sport journalist slams ‘struggling’ Rangers man Cyriel Dessers who ‘can’t buy a break’
Rangers striker Cryiel Dessers cannot “buy a break” right now, according to BBC Sport journalist Martin Dowden.
The summer signing started and played 62 minutes as the Gers defeated St Mirren 2-0 at Ibrox on Sunday (3 December).
His fellow forward and fellow summer arrival Abdallah Sima, who is on loan, scored both goals in the Scottish Premiership victory on home soil.

“Cyriel Dessers just can’t buy a break,” said Dowden, as quoted by BBC Sport (3 December). “He’s struggling to contribute positively and you can sense the crowd aren’t convinced right now.”
After Dessers was brought off just after the hour mark, Dowden added: “Another frustrating afternoon for Cyriel Dessers. In fairness, he did contribute to the goal but other than that, there was little.”

Tough times
Struggling striker Dessers really is having a tough time at Ibrox since his summer move to Glasgow, but he certainly isn’t the only one.
A lot of Michael Beale’s summer signings are failing to have the impact the former manager wanted them to have, which played a large part in his sacking earlier this season.
New manager Clement has been patient with those players, giving them plenty of chances since taking over, but they may just be nervous with the January transfer window rapidly approaching.
It would be a massive shock if they were to leave Glasgow after just a matter of months, but that may just be the case if Clement has serious ambitions at Ibrox, which he should.
But the man in the dugout must also be wise and show patience when necessary, with not every player able to immediately hit the ground running at their new club.
In other Rangers news, a Sky Sports pundit has slammed a Gers “failure” as a “booby prize” is on the cards for the Ibrox club.
