Celtic madness and conspiracy emerges in new Rangers jibe at Ibrox

Gary Keown has fired a jibe at Rangers over their recent trophy haul when comparing AGM meetings of the two Old Firm clubs as they come under the microscope.

Writing for the Scottish Mail on Sunday [3 December, pg 105], the journalist pointed to the “madness” and “conspiracy theories” that often come out at Celtic in their meetings.

On the other hand, it tends to be a much calmer experience at Rangers, pointing to a reason behind only two major trophies in the past 12 years.

He wrote: “Say what you like about Celtic punters, but their AGM almost always brings a bit of aggro, a soupcon of madness and some pointed questions at the board.

“Even if it does have a tendency to go a bit off-piste with the Sevco conspiracy theories.

“From experience, shareholder gatherings across the way at Rangers tend to be more muted. Hence the reason the club has had two major trophies pass through its door in the last 12 years as opposed to countless numbers of cancers.”

Madness.

The last real place you want madness and conspiracy is in your AGM, so don’t expect fireworks of that magnitude at Edmiston House on Tuesday [5 December].

After yet another disappointing summer transfer window and start to the season, which has seen another manager go and a new one be appointed in Philippe Clement.

Success is needed on the pitch, and to double that trophy haul in one season would be an amazing start to what could be a long period of dominance.

We have seen that before though, and the invincible season was not followed up at Ibrox, when the perfect opportunity to do just that was missed.

Celtic cannot keep Rangers out of their mouth, everyone knows that, so it will be all business when the Bears gather with some important questions that simply need to be answered.

Hopefully, that can happen, and we can all move on with success on our minds.
