Rangers predicted XI v St Mirren: Jose Cifuentes, Sam Lammers to be axed
Philippe Clement needs to set the marker down at Rangers and may look to make wholesale changes for the weekend game against St Mirren.
In what looked to be the easiest game of their Europa League group – a home fixture against Aris – Gers failed to pick up the three points.
They struggled to dominate the game and create proper goal-scoring chances and had to settle for a 1-1 draw on Thursday night.
Connor Goldson and Leon Balogun couldn’t both play in mid-week for different reasons.
Goldson was serving a suspension while Balogun is not registered in the Europa League so did not make the matchday squad either.
Both are expected to come back in and they could be named in the starting eleven as well.
Jose Cifuentes has struggled since joining Rangers and the time might arrived for Clement to take the shackles off this team.
Todd Cantwell and Tom Lawrence are both capable of playing as a free eights and this might be the ideal game to try out that system.
Sam Lammers, another player who’s been disappointing recently, will make way for Ross McCausland, who’s stolen headlines recently for signing a new long-term contract at the club.
Apart from these four changes, the rest of the team pretty much picks itself and if Ryan Jack is available, he’ll give Clement a few selection dilemmas.
