Rangers duo Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers January transfer claims emerge amid Nils Koppen arrival

Rangers duo Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers may be made redundant in January post the appointment of Nils Koppen, according to Scottish Sun.

The newspaper reported that one of Koppen’s first tasks could be to find new clubs for the struggling Gers attacking duo.

Both Lammers and Dessers moved to Ibrox in the summer but have found it hard to adapt to life in Scotland.

Harsh?

No Rangers fan will be happy with Lammers or Dessers’ performance this season but the duo arrived under Michael Beale’s management and managerial changes can often disrupt player adaptation.

The departure of Beale and the arrival of Philippe Clement may have altered the tactical approach and system, affecting the suitability of Lammers and Dessers to the new setup.

It’s crucial to acknowledge the transitional period that comes with a managerial change as players need time to adjust to new tactics, coaching methods and team dynamics.

It may also be harsh to sell them after just a few months in a new league and country and perhaps a loan move could be a better alternative.

With Koppen taking on the role of Director of Football, there might be a reassessment of the squad and a focus on players who can contribute effectively under Clement’s leadership.

While the circumstances may be tough, the need for Lammers and Dessers to improve quickly stems from the competitive nature of football and if they don’t, they could be sold eventually, raising funds for new signings.

In other Rangers news, the club are bound to face long-term sustainability issues amid a recent £11million development.
