Owen Hargreaves gushes over Rangers as Celtic set European record
Owen Hargreaves has praised Rangers after Celtic’s record 15th straight European defeat led to many questioning the standing of Scottish football.
Brendan Rodgers oversaw his Hoops side losing five Champions League games in a row this season.
Hargreaves believes that if Gers could do it right and make it to the Europa League final, it would be possible for Celtic to compete too.
The TNT Sports host stated, “It’s a devastating record for Celtic,” before questioning whether or not Scottish clubs are not at the level of competing in Europe.
To which Hargreaves said, “We saw Rangers, they had that brilliant run. I think if you get it right you can compete.”

While the Champions League is undoubtedly a more difficult competition, in a lot of games, Gers were the underdogs but still managed to come out on top.
Had things been more streamlined in the summer and if Philippe Clement was in the hot seat then, things might have turned out differently but they can still fight Celtic for the league.
