Official Rangers partner rages at performance in 1-1 draw v Aberdeen as players blasted
Four Lads Had A Dream were furious with the Rangers performance in the 1-1 draw with Aberdeen and called out the players for their part in where the club is right now.
The light blues missed the chance to close the gap on Celtic at the top of the table, avoiding defeat thanks to a 94th minute James Tavernier penalty to maintain Philippe Clement’s unbeaten record since taking over as manager.
But despite the late goal the club’s official partner took to their personal Twitter account (27 November) to share their thoughts on the game calling it “poor” and “not good enough” before blasting the players for not being able to learn.
“In isolation yesterday’s [Sunday] game is ‘one of those games’. Problem is it is a recurring theme,” they wrote.
“Clement says ‘we have to learn’ to start quickly but this group can’t learn & that’s what’s cost managers jobs already. People disagreed with me yesterday when I said we were poor but I can’t get away from that.
“We played in the last 20 mins & huffed and puffed the rest, it wasn’t good enough regardless what stats say. This squad & it’s mentality can’t seem be fixed by anyone, Clement must try to get the best out of it before he can manoeuvre it himself & that includes big decisions on players brought in over the summer.
“None of this is on him either nor am I suggesting it is. The wage bill is a mess & we aren’t getting value across the board.
“Whilst it doesn’t have a negative impact on our ‘chase’ the truth is we will never be in a title race until we are able to win games such as yesterday. Aberdeen is tough but only because we make it.
“Without the 4 points we have gifted them this year they would be bottom of the league but we approach these games like it’s a big game, that’s our issue. Harsh or not that’s our reality.”
Not good enough
Since Clement has come in there has been a clear improvement on the pitch from the way the team is playing to how they are setting up mentally too.

But as soon as the team was faced with adversity against Aberdeen we immediately started to see the same issues that we were plagued with under Giovanni van Bronckhorst and also Michael Beale.
That isn’t good enough from a group of players who have been playing top-level football for several years, and the manager said as much in his post-match interviews.
If these players can’t deal with adversity then they can’t be Rangers players, and if Clement does the same thing that Beale and Van Bronckhorst did and tries to change them rather than bring in new players who can deal with it then he will face the same fate as them too.
January will see the beginning of the plan, and it’s good that they made it clear they don’t blame Clement for these issues because he has inherited them not created them. A quick turnaround and busy schedule helps, so lets see how they bounce back at Ibrox on Thursday.
