Barry Ferguson and Mark Guidi urge Rangers and Celtic to sign Bojan Miovski this January
Barry Ferguson and Mark Guidi have urged Rangers and Celtic to consider signing Aberdeen striker Bojan Miovski during the January transfer window.
The North Macedonian forward scored his 11th goal of the season in all competitions against Philippe Clement’s side on Sunday (26 October) having found the net on 16 occasions in last year’s Scottish Premiership.
As Rangers continue to struggle in front of goal with the likes of Cyriel Dessers, Sam Lammers and Danilo failing to find the net consistently, Guidi believes that Mioviski represents a low-risk solution for the Gers, or even their Glasgow rivals Celtic.

Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show (27 November, 29:10) he said: “I always think whether it be Celtic or Rangers if you’re looking for somebody in January, somebody like Miovski or whoever it may be if they’re playing here, there’s no settling in problems.
“They know the league, they know the country, they know the culture. That’s always one thing that you’d have in your favour.”
Ferguson was quick to agree, saying: “He’s shown that he can be good enough, 11 goals for an Aberdeen team that has struggled this season let’s be honest. He’s definitely an out-and-out goalscorer and he has decent link-up play as well, he’s an international.
“Why would you not look at players who are playing in the Premiership? We spoke about another player that we mention quite a lot Lawrence Shankland, another goal at the weekend, he’s just a natural-born goal scorer.”
Buy from Scotland
Rangers need goals in January and they cannot take too many risks after spending heavily over the course of the summer transfer window. The likes of Danilo, Dessers and Lammers all cost big fees but have failed to replace the presence of Alfredo Morelos at the top end of the pitch.

It seems bizarre that Rangers have been so reluctant to buy from within Scotland when looking for new forward options. As Guidi suggested, Miovski knows Scotland, he knows Scottish football and he won’t have to worry about struggling to settle in.
With both Miovski and Shankland going from strength to strength with each passing week in the Premiership, it feels as though it will be impossible for Clement and the Rangers recruitment team to ignore as they continue to plan for the January transfer window.
If Miovski can be this good for a fairly indifferent Hearts team, he could certainly score plenty of goals for this Rangers side that always fashions plenty of chances.
