BBC Sport journalist rages over ‘daft’ incident in Rangers draw v Aberdeen as Barry Robson denied 30-year record
Aberdeen player Stefan Gartenmann was “daft and needless” in his club’s draw with Rangers, according to BBC journalist Nick McPheat.
The defender gave away a penalty in stoppage time of the Scottish Premiership clash at Pittodrie on Sunday (26 November).
Gers captain James Tavernier scored the spot-kick to secure a 1-1 draw after Bojan Miovski scored for the hosts in the 11th minute.

“But for a daft and needless – albeit slight – tug from Gartenmann on Connor Goldson, which gave away the added-time penalty, Barry Robson would have become the first Aberdeen manager in 30 years to win back-to-back league games against Rangers,” McPheat wrote for BBC Sport (26 November).

Lucky?
Rangers were certainly not at their best at Pittodrie, with Philippe Clement’s men lucky to have left Aberdeen with a point.
It was the late show from Tavernier, who once again proved his worth to his side on a scoring front, keeping his composure to net a penalty under such pressure.
Aberdeen striker Miovski thought he had secured all three points for Robson’s men with his well-taken goal early on, but he was left devastated after Tavernier saved the day for the visitors.
The draw means Gers manager Clement remains undefeated at the club since taking over from the sacked Michael Beale.
The Belgian has overseen eight matches, winning six of those and drawing two, but he will be disappointed not to have taken advantage of fierce rivals Celtic dropping points.
Brendan Rodgers’s men could only draw 1-1 at home to Motherwell on Saturday (25 November), meaning their lead at the top of the table now stands at eight points, although the Gers do have a game in hand over the Bhoys.
In other Rangers news, one Gers ace must force through an Ibrox move after a recent development, a January exit suits all parties.
