Rangers being made to look silly as Umar Sadiq goal for Real Sociedad v Sevilla goes viral
It would not be too controversial to state that Umar Sadiq failed to make any real impression during his short time at Rangers.
The Nigeria forward joined the Gers on a season-long loan from Roma ahead of the 2018-19 campaign, but he lasted just five months at Ibrox.
Rather incredibly, the Light Blues – then under the management of Steven Gerrard – felt the need to send Sadiq back to his parent club.

That was on the back of just four first-team appearances in all competitions in which the now-26-year-old failed to find the net.
Rangers are one of seven teams Sadiq has represented on loan, so it is fair to say he was used to bouncing from club to club.
Sadiq has finally found a home for himself in Spain, though, having starred first for Almeria and now Real Sociedad.
The Nigerian scored 38 goals in Segunda Division across two seasons with Almeria, and he is now showing he can score in LaLiga.
Indeed, Sadiq’s first goal of the season arrived against Sevilla on Sunday (26 November) and has since gone viral on social media.
Football Scotland were among those to share the clip, which already has close to 30,000 views, describing it as a “worldie”.
Sadiq carried the ball from inside his own half, shifted it onto his right boot and fired home from well over 35 yards out.
It is a strong contender for the Goal of the Season award, with Sadiq being mobbed by his team-mates and saluted by the home fans.
A year is a long time in football, let alone five years, and Rangers – or Gerrard, perhaps – are being made to look silly by Sadiq’s showings.
As can often be the case, a player sooner or later finds a club where they are adored, which unfortunately was never going to be the case for Sadiq at Rangers.
In other Rangers news, a BBC Sport pundit was left flabbergasted by something he saw in the Gers’ 1-1 draw with Aberdeen.
