BBC Sportsound pundit wowed by ‘magnificent’ Rangers ace Jack Butland v Aberdeen
Willie Miller was amazed by Jack Butland’s early save to deny Ester Sokler from scoring Aberdeen’s opener against Rangers at Pittodrie on Sunday.
Leighton Clarkson’s clever pass found the Slovenian striker, who looked destined to score with a low drive towards the goal.
However, Butland pulled off a tremendous save with his foot to keep the scores level. Unfortunately, Bojan Miovski ruined the Englishman’s clean sheet in the 11th minute thanks to sloppy defending by the Gers.

Still, BBC pundit Miller was still full of praise for Butland’s efforts in denying Sokler from scoring.
“Sokler takes up a brilliant position behind Goldson,” said Miller on BBC Sportsound on Sunday, as quoted on the BBC Sport match blog (26 November, 12:07pm).
“It should have hit the back of the net, but you have to say it’s a magnificent save from Butland.”

Simply the best
Butland’s been in incredible form this season for Rangers.
He’s easily the best player Michael Beale signed for the club after he arrived in the summer from Crystal Palace.
The England international has pulled off massive save after massive save in such a short space of time. He’s probably won more points for the club than any of the attackers this term.
If it wasn’t that for that save against Aberdeen, we probably would have lost so it just goes to show how important it is to have a good goalkeeper in the side.
Rangers fans know all about that thanks to Allan McGregor’s heroics at Ibrox but Butland is showing signs of being better than Greegsy ever was at Ibrox.
There’s no denying McGregor’s stature at Rangers and there’s no doubt he’s gone down in the club’s history.
But Butland, so far this season, could be the best we’ve ever had in between the sticks.
In other Rangers news, Gary Keown has blasted this Ibrox star for lying to some “random punter” about his stats.
