Pundit urges Rangers board to back Philippe Clement amid Ross McCausland claim

Barry Ferguson has sent a message to the Rangers board amid the interest shown in attacker Ross McCausland ahead of January.

In his Daily Record column on 24 November, the former Gers player believes that the Belgian wants the 20-year-old to sign a new deal at Ibrox.

Thus far, there are no indications from the Northern Ireland international that he would turn down other clubs to extend his stay but recently there has been interest shown from Brentford.

Ferguson wrote: “People like to accuse football players of ‘chasing the coin’ but that’s a phrase I can’t stand. As professionals, they have a responsibility to do what’s best for their career.

“And that’s why McCausland would be better off staying where is for the time being and clocking up over 100 appearances in a Rangers shirt before he even thinks about taking the next step.

“Philippe Clement might keep his cards close to his chest in front of the media but the Belgian has already made it clear that he wants this kid to sign a new deal. If I was on the Rangers board, I wouldn’t want to let the manager down!”

Keep him

McCausland’s potential to become a future star makes retaining him at Rangers imperative for the club’s long-term success.

The young Northern Irish attacker has already showcased his talents by making significant contributions on the field.

His journey from Linfield to the Rangers Academy in 2019 for £60,000 underlines his early promise and the club’s investment in his potential.

The 20-year-old’s versatility, skill, and composure on the pitch have caught the attention not only of fans but also of football pundits like Ferguson, who, as a Rangers legend, understands the value of nurturing and retaining homegrown talent.

Ferguson’s urging the Rangers board to do whatever it takes to keep McCausland is a testament to the player’s exceptional abilities and the potential impact he could have on the club’s future successes.

In a football landscape where young talents are highly sought after, securing the future of a player like McCausland is vital for Gers, not only for immediate success but also to cultivate a homegrown star who can contribute significantly to the club’s legacy.

In other Rangers news, a player is now in a ‘Worse’ situation than before as surgery is unavoidable, according to exclusive coverage by an injury expert.
