Official Rangers partner reacts as Ross McCausland agrees new long-term Ibrox contract

Official Rangers partner Heart and Hand have shared their delight at the news Ross McCausland has agreed a new contract at Ibrox.

The young winger has agreed a new four-year deal at the club, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that he will put pen to paper in the next 48 hours to make if official.

And writing on their personal Twitter account (25 November), the official club partner admitted it was “good news” but said the challenge for him to kick on starts now.

“Ross McCausland signing a new deal until 2027 is good news but as he’ll know, the work starts now,” they wrote.

“Lots of youngsters get into the team, it’s staying there that is the challenge.

“That said, always great to see one of our own in our jersey.”

Excellent

It’s fantastic news not only for McCausland, but also for the club considering there were reportedly some big clubs interested in his services.

Italian clubs and also Premier League side Brentford were said to be taking a look at the 20-year-old whose current deal expires in 2024, meaning Rangers would only have been due around £350,000 in compensation if he had left on a free transfer.

But it shows the great faith that Philippe Clement has got in McCausland to be a part of his plans going forward, while it also shows we must be doing something right behind the scenes if he has chosen to stay here rather than go abroad.

As has been said however, this is now where he needs to kick on and really elevate his game if he wants to become a regular player in the team.

He’s got big competition ahead of him but Clement has shown that he trusts him and will give him opportunities, it’s just down to him to take them.
