Exit-linked Ross McCausland to make ‘big’ Rangers decision amid ‘major’ Philippe Clement offer – Jonny McFarlane
Ross McCausland has a “big” decision to make on his future at Rangers after being linked with a move away from the club, according to Jonny McFarlane.
Writing on The Herald website on Friday (24 November), the journalist said the 20-year-old has been offered a “tangible opportunity” to become a “major part” of the new Gers boss Philippe Clement’s rebuild at Ibrox.
He added that the Northern Ireland international, who is out of contract at the end of the season and has recently attracted interest from Brentford, Atalanta and Roma, will find the offer “difficult to turn down” as game time will play an important role in his decision.

“McCausland has a big decision to make,” said McFarlane. “Clement seems to have offered him a tangible opportunity to become a major part of his rebuilt Rangers. If so, you’d imagine that will be an offer that’s difficult to turn down. But there’s no doubt that game time will be a key part of the decision-making process.
“While we consider 20 young in this country, you’re generally struggling to be an elite player if you’ve not had significant match experience at this age. He will know he needs games.”
Opportunity
It is an incredibly important decision for McCausland and Rangers after he has shown plenty of promise after breaking into the first team over the past few weeks.
Clement has made it clear that he does want him to be part of his plans and it depends on whether that opportunity is enough to persuade him into remaining at Ibrox.
If the winger were to decide not to sign a new deal, he could be available for as little as £350,000 once his contract expires at the end of the season, striking a significant blow to the Gers.

It’s not only because they would lose out on the Northern Irishman, but also because he is a chance for the Light Blues to show other youngsters that there is a pathway through to the first team.
It’s so far unclear what decision he will take, but the most important thing for now is to carry on handing him regular minutes and hope that he does sign a new deal to remain in Glasgow.
