Derek Clark makes ‘bet your bottom dollar’ prediction ahead of Rangers clash v Aberdeen

Rangers will be treating their upcoming trip to Aberdeen as a “cup final,” while the hosts will be up for the clash after losing 6-0 at Celtic last time out, according to journalist Derek Clark.

Philippe Clement’s men travel to Pittodrie on Sunday (26 November) to take on the Dons in a Scottish Premiership encounter.

The home side currently sit ninth in the league table with 12 points, with the visitors currently occupying second place with 27 points.

Rangers

“You can bet your bottom dollar Aberdeen will be well up for this game,” Clark said on The Rangers Review (24 November). “Don’t read into their previous trip to Glasgow, they are going to be well up for this game.

“And I imagine Rangers will too. Rangers have done well historically at Pittodrie. There have been a few blips along the way.

“However you just feel that Rangers, under Clement, going up there, they will be treating this as their cup final as well. I think Rangers will be bang up for this on Sunday.”

Huge clash

Both clubs will certainly be well up for this game at Pittodrie, but for very different reasons given their positions in the table.

For the hosts, moving away from the dreaded relegation zone will be the main priority between now and Christmas, with Aberdeen currently just two points off rock bottom. St. Johnstone sit a place below them on 11 points, with Ross County and Livingston both on 10 points.

In good news for the Dons, they have played 11 games so far, one fewer than St. Johnstone and Ross County and two fewer than Livingston.

Rangers meanwhile are currently trying to keep as much pressure on fierce rivals Celtic as possible, with the Bhoys eight points ahead at the top.

But like Aberdeen, Rangers have a match in their favour, having played 12 times so far in comparison to Celtic’s 13 games. Brendan Rodgers’s side are in action on Saturday, hosting eighth-place Motherwell at Celtic Park.

In other Rangers news, one Gers ace is now undroppable for both club and country as a Michael Beale failure is underlined.
