Ryan Jack must force Rangers transfer after recent development, January exit suits all parties

Rangers really have turned a corner under Philippe Clement, with Michael Beale’s struggles at Ibrox quickly forgotten.

The Gers are flying high in all competitions under their new boss, who has helped a number of players rediscover their form.

One such player is midfielder Ryan Jack, who has featured heavily under the Belgian since he came to the Ibrox dugout.

However, it hasn’t been enough for the veteran to land a regular starting spot for his country, with Scotland boss Steve Clarke instead opting for the likes of Celtic’s Callum McGregor and Manchester United’s Scott McTominay.

The nation have now qualified for next summer’s Euro 2024 finals, meaning the boss has some huge decisions to make in the months to come. And there will be a big battle for places in his midfield, but it is one which Gers ace Jack is likely to lose.

According to the Daily Record (23 November), the 31-year-old was handed just 89 minutes across three appearances in Scotland’s qualifying campaign.

Of course, given the presence of the aforementioned midfielders, and the likes of Premier League stars John McGinn and Billy Gilmour, the lack of game time isn’t exactly Jack’s fault.

At club level, while he has been favoured by Clement, Jack has certainly not played every minute possible, and was left on the bench for the entirety of the recent clashes away to Sparta Prague and home to Hibernian.

But the Ibrox man can improve his Scotland chances with a Gers exit and a transfer to a club where he can play as many minutes as possible before next summer.

And with the player’s contract expriring at the end of the season, it definitely makes sense for him to move on sooner rather than later so Rangers avoid losing the midfielder on a free transfer, meaning a January exit is the right option.

In other Rangers news, one Gers ace is now undroppable for both club and country as a Beale failure is underlined at Ibrox.
